Choosing a good breakfast

In my list of 10 simple food rules to live by, rule #2 is

“Always have a good breakfast every day.”

So is your breakfast a good or bad one?

I just stumbled across this Which? report on the top 100 Breakfast cereals (click here to download the PDF report) and it makes interesting reading.  It shows if the cereal is high or low in:

  • Sugar
  • Fat
  • Saturates
  • Salt

The most interesting thing was that only 1 of them were low in all four.

See how your breakfast cereal does on the list and decide if it is the best choice you can make…

Good post – I am currently battling to change the kids’ breakfast habits!

My breakfast is probably my biggest meal of the day and usually consists of:

bowl of porridge, made with water and one teaspoon of honey
    3 prunes
    handful of mixed nuts
    handful of pumpkin seeds
    1 apple
    1 banana
    1 orange
all washed down with loads of water

(if i’ve exercised before breakfast, I usually have 2 big spoons of organic peanut butter straight after my workout and before breakfast – quick way to get some protein into the system)
