Prevention is better than cure.

15/03/2010

In the news today, it mentions that “two key treatments do not halt diabetes in people with early signs of the disease”.  Click here to read the full story.

Type 2 diabetes is very strongly linked to obesity.  The maths is very simple:

The fatter you are = The greater the chance of you developing type 2 diabetes.

And this report shows that leading drugs are so far not helping to break that equation.

Think of it like this.  If you were banging your head against a brick wall and getting a very bad headache, what do you think would be the best option for you?

  1. Find stronger aspirin to alleviate one symptom (but not do anything about the other injuries sustained by the head banging).
  2. Stop banging your head against a brick wall.

I’m pretty sure most of us would choose option 2.

So if you are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes (and the more inactive you are and the shittier your diet is, the higher your risk), stop banging your head against the wall and:

eat less and do more
